I believe we should never stop LEARNing and growing;
That we should LAUGH often, loudly and with
wild abandon;
That we should LOVE or try to,
as if our heart had no cracks;
And
That if we do all these things we shall truly LIVE the life we were meant to!

Supervision
I believe the counseling process should be a collaborative and supportive process that helps you work through issues, struggles or problems in a manner that you feel empowered and heard. I believe in the connection between ourselves and the environment and others that are in our spheres and strengthening those ties. I enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals from adults to teens and kids, any gender and any orientation or ethnicity or background. My specialty tends to be focused on military members or those connected to the military and those struggling with substance use issues.
I have a wide variety of experiences and trainings that I bring to the table when considering the consultative process. Not only do I have dual licensures as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker but I am also a Masters Addiction Counselor. I also have 20+ years of doing military mental health both state side and on deployments(combat included.) I have used Traumatic Event Management or Critical Incident Stress Management in the field and have done trauma treatment while in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have worked in the VA Medical system, Vet Center, National Guard and a wide variety of other employments. I also rely heavily on my background in biology and my strong passion and connection to the environment.
We all benefit when we have the ability to share with each other and learn and grow from one another. I offer both group and individual supervision. I believe that the collaborative effort and shared experience offers the best environment for becoming a professional in the helping field. None of us operate in a vacuum and it can be a lonely and at times difficult experience as you work towards licensure or completing your education. I can supervise anyone in the process of obtaining their license or in the process of obtaining their hours for their schooling. This is a collaborative effort and I look forward to helping guide decisions and processes and professional growth. I have worked in a variety of locations and with a wide variety of clients/people/those seeking services. I would be honored to walk with you as you embark on becoming a mental health provider.
